Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Defense Minister Receive Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, met in Jeddah Saturday with the Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations in the military and defense fields and ways to enhance them, in addition a number issues of common concern, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense; Minister of State, Cabinet Member and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; President of General Intelligence, Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan; Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki; Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Lt-General Bilal Akbar and a number of officials.

For his part, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense, also received in Jeddah Saturday Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

They reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the military and defense aspects. Also discussed were ways to enhance joint cooperation to maintain security and stability, in addition to issues of common interest.

The meeting was attended by senior officials on the Saudi side as well as the Senior Officers accompanying the Pakistani delegation.

Furthermore, the Saudi Crown Prince also received at the Royal Court at Alsalam Palace in Jeddah Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan during his two-day visit to the Kingdom.

Both sides affirmed the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries and underscored the importance of expanding and intensifying aspects of bilateral cooperation and coordination and enhancing them in various fields. They also exchanged views on issues of common interest at the regional and international arenas that contribute to supporting and enhancing security and stability.

The meeting was attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior; Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet and Advisor of National Security; Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Acting Minister of Media; Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan.

On the Pakistani side, the meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi; Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa; Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed; Secretary to the Foreign Minister Ambassador Sohail Mahmood; Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Climate Affairs Amin Aslam; Pakistani ambassador to Saudi Arabia Lt. General Bilal Akbar; Secretary to the Army Chief of Pakistan Major General Mohammad Irfan; and Military Secretary to Pakistani Prime Minister Brigadier Mohammad Ahmed.

Furthermore, HRH Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Pakistan signed the arrangement to establish the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council. They also witnessed the signing ceremony of two agreements and two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), namely:

An agreement for cooperation in the field of persons sentenced to penalties depriving freedom and an agreement for cooperation in the field of combating crime, signed by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Interior and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

A MoU for cooperation in the field of persons sentenced to penalties depriving freedom and an agreement for cooperation in the field of combating crime, also signed the Saudi Minister of Interior and his Pakistani counterpart.

A second MoU is in the field of combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and chemical precursors, signed by the Saudi Minister of Interior and the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs.

A framework MoU for financing eligible projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transportation, water and communications between the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, signed by the Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khatib, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, and Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
