Saudi Chief of General Staff Receives Chief of Staff of Greek National Defence

The Saudi Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and the Chief of the General Staff of the National Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Choupis, met Sunday to discuss defence and military cooperation between their countries.

The talks, held at the headquarters of the General Staff in Riyadh, focused on cooperation, particularly in defence and military fields, and explored opportunities for further development. Additionally, they exchanged views on regional and international topics of mutual interest, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Al-Ruwaili hosted an official reception ceremony for Choupis, underscoring the significance of the visit. The discussions and reception were attended by Commanders and Officers from both the Saudi and Greek Armed Forces.

In another development, units from the Saudi Armed Forces are participating in the “Eager Lion 2024” military drill, which is held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 12-23 May, with the participation of the armies of 33 countries.

The head of the Saudi Armed Forces Education and Training Authority, Major General Adel Al-Balawi, explained that the exercise aims to exchange expertise and train on planning and implementing joint operations and missile air defense operations, in addition to implementing counter-terrorism and maritime security operations to confront regional threats.

The Saudi Armed Forces, represented by the General Staff, the Joint Forces Command, and the branches of the Armed Forces (land, air, sea, and air defense), are participating in the “Eager Lion 2024” exercise with actual forces, planning officers, and observer officers.
