GCC Chiefs-of-Staff Conclude 2-Day Meeting in Bahrain

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Chiefs-of-staff converged to Bahrain to attend the 11th Supreme Military Committee two-day meeting, which took place in Manama on 10-11 November 2013.

Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Chief-of-Staff Major General Sheikh Daij bin Salman Al-Khalifa received them on their arrival at the Isa Airbase on Sunday.

GCC Assistant-Secretary General for Military Affairs Major General Khalifa Hameed Al-Kaabi, Peninsula Shield Commander Major General Mutlaq bin Salem Al-Azima and other senior BDF Officers were also present at the airport.

The military officials included Saudi Chief-of-Staff Field Marshal Hussain bin Abdulla Al-Qabeel, Omani Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed bin Hareth Al-Nabhani, Qatar Armed Forces Major General Ghanim Shaheen Al-Ghanim, Kuwait Armed Forces Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Othman, and UAE Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al-Rumaithi.

The session discussed key issues aimed at bolstering military cooperation and stepping up coordination between the GCC Armed Forces.

The delegations also reviewed  the implementation of joint military agreements and ways of strengthening GCC defence systems.
