Malaysian Defense Minister Visits Saudi Arabia, Bahrain

Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received in his office in Jeddah Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and discussed with him bilateral relations and cooperation mainly in the Defense field.

Prince Mohammed also met Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Syrian Settlement Alexander Lavrentiev.

They discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Earlier, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, met the Malaysian Minister of Defense and Minister with Special Functions, Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, at Gudaibiya Palace, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The Crown Prince discussed a wide range of regional and international issues, including the Kingdom of Bahrain’s eagerness to advance security cooperation with allies such as Malaysia in order to effectively combat global terrorism.

He noted that those individuals that espouse extremist ideologies do so to disrupt the development and prosperity of peaceful nations, and the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to challenge terrorism at its source

He added that the Kingdom’s commitment to combating extremist ideologies is rooted in the Islamic values of faith and coexistence

He went on to welcome the Malaysian minster and his accompanying delegation, highlighting the steady growth of relations between both countries, particularly in the security and defense sectors.

Meanwhile, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, received also received in Manama the Malaysian Minister of Defense and Minister with Special Functions, Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, and his accompanying delegation.

Defense Affairs Minister, Lieutenant-General Yussef bin Ahmed Al-Jalahma, and Chief-of-Staff, Lieutenant-General Dheyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, were also present.

The Commander-in-Chief affirmed that the Malaysian Minister’s visit aims to strengthen military cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed lauded the depth of the Bahraini-Malaysian relations, and their steady progress, stressing the importance of such visits in strengthening friendship relations between the two countries.

Director of the BDF General Command’s Court, Major General Hassan Mohammed Sa’ad, and Director of Military Cooperation, Rear Admiral Mohammed Hasim Al-Sada, also attended.

Lastly, Bahrain’s Royal Guard Commander, Brigadier General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received at his Majlis in the Al-Wadi Palace, the Malaysian Minister of Defense and Minister with Special Functions, Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, and his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Nasser welcomed the Malaysian Minister, and lauded the depth of the Bahraini-Malaysian relations of friendship.
