Harris received a $10 million order to provide a unique secure tactical networked communication system to an international government in support of safety and security. The system integrates technology from the company's tactical radio and public safety and professional communications businesses.

The Harris solution includes an integrated assured communication Internet Protocol (IP)-based system that will enable military and law enforcement personnel to communicate over a multi-level network. The system consists of the Harris VIDA(r) network, its P25IP mission-critical public safety radio system and tactical and law-enforcement radios. Seamless communications interoperability between armed forces and law enforcement is delivered through NetworkFirst(r), the Harris interoperability gateway solution.

Included in the order are radios from the Harris RF Harris Falcon III(r) and Falcon II(r) families, including the Falcon III(r) RF-7800S Secure Personal Radio, which provides communication in the 350 Mhz to 450 Mhz frequency range. Other tactical radios acquired by the customer are the Falcon III(r) RF-7800V Combat Net Radio, which provides high-speed voice and data communication in the VHF band, and Falcon II(r) RF-5800H High Frequency Radio. For public safety use, Harris is also providing P5400 portable and M7100 mobile radios.

"Harris leveraged its traditional defense communications and public safety and professional communications expertise to create this unique solution," said Andy Start, President, International Business Unit, Harris RF Communications. "This system will promote interoperable communications both within and across individual jurisdictions, such as first responder agencies and federal forces, allowing for improved operational planning, command and control and mission success."
