The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the International Defense Industries Fair “IDEF 2023”, which was held in Istanbul, the Republic of Turkey, over four days (25-28 July), amid wide local and international participation.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Saudi pavilion witnessed meetings of its member companies with their Turkish and international counterparts in the field of defence and military industries to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the exhibition, many dignitaries, local and international officials, industry leaders from investors in the defence and security sectors, and several official delegations were present at the Kingdom's pavilion.

By the end of the fourth and final day of IDEF 2023, the number of visitors exceeded 4,000 who visited the Kingdom’s pavilion to see the latest technologies participating in the exhibition, where eight Saudi-made defence products were displayed with national arms.

Earlier, the Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz AlOhali, inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s pavilion on the first day of IDEF’23. Organised by GAMI, the event saw the presence of several officials and investors in the global military and defence industries sector.

Eng. AlOhali highlighted that the Kingdom’s participation holds a strategic significance for the region, and aims to engage with key players and investors in the field from around the world.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia seeks to showcase the attractive investment environment in the sector and foster international cooperation by facilitating partnerships between local companies in Saudi Arabia’s defence and security industries, and their international counterparts specialised in these fields, he added.

IDEF’23 witnessed a remarkable turnout of visitors, specialists and investors who were briefed on the pavilions of national companies participating in the exhibition and the national products they contained in various fields of the military, defence and security sectors. In addition, the most prominent developments of the military industries sector were reviewed regarding the localization of military industries and technology transfer.
