The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (NEDAJA) has added two homemade cruise missiles to its fleet amid efforts to boost the combat capabilities of the force in countering threats.

The two strategic cruise missiles, identified as Talaiyeh and Nasir, were added to the NEDAJA fleet on Sunday in a ceremony held in the port city of Konarak, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, IRNA reported.

Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi attended the ceremony in the Navy base, which is located on the Sea of Oman and is home to NEDAJA’s Third Nabovvat Zone.

The Navy received other new homemade equipment during the ceremony in Konarak, including the first intelligence helicopter, a new surface-to-surface missile system, loitering drones, and a system for detection and tracking of divers.

Meanwhile, Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri announced that his force has equipped its vessels with long-range homegrown naval cruise missiles that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enjoy high controllability after launch.

He made the remarks addressing a ceremony in the Southern Iranian port city of Bushehr, Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.

Admiral Alireza Tangsiri pointed out that introduction of the new military achievement to the IRGC Navy has dramatically boosted its deterrent power.

“Among the most distinguishing features of the new vessels are their ability to cruise at a higher velocity, and outstanding qualities which outshine their predecessors,” he added.

The IRGC Navy commander further noted that missiles guided by Artificial Intelligence which enjoy remote controllability after launch have been fitted into the equipment.

“The design and manufacture of such vessels by Iranian experts at the IRGC Navy exhibit the country’s strong resolve to attain self-sufficiency in the production of essential combat equipment and systems,” Tangsiri said.

He further noted that a number of IRGC naval units have already taken delivery of the sophisticated vessels, emphasizing that the entire combat units of the force will receive them in the near future.
