Iran Test-Fires Strategic ‘Fateh 360’ Missile

Iranian Army’s Ground Force conducted two-day-long wargames in order to boost its combat capability in the face of new threats.

Dubbed the Eqtedar (Authority) 1401, the military exercises concluded Thursday and involved infantry, armored, artillery, air force, drone, engineering, airborne and electronic warfare units and with the support of air force planes, Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.

Various units coming from the army’s infantry, artillery, army Aviation, armored, engineering, drone, airborne, and electronic warfare divisions, participated in the drills, Spokesperson Second Brigadier General Amir Cheshak noted.

“The military exercises involved infantry, armored, artillery, air force, drone, engineering, airborne and electronic warfare units and with the support of air force planes,’ he added.

“The drills are meant to assess the ability of the Ground Force to mobilize its servicemen from different countrywide areas to the location hosting the maneuvers. The exercises also aimed to increase the level of mobility possessed by the Ground Force’s Special Forces and Rapid Reaction Brigades,” he continued.

During the drills, Iranian Army Ground Force test-fired a domestically developed surface-to-surface missile (SSM), which hits the designated target with pinpoint precision.

“The missile, codenamed Fateh (Conquest) 360, was launched in the second stage of the drills,” Iranian Army Ground Force Deputy Commander Brigadier General Nozar Nemati said.

“The Iranian Army units also fired volleys of indigenous Fajr-5 (Dawn-5) missiles. The missile reportedly has a range of 75 kilometers (50 miles) and can carry 175-kilogram fragmentation warheads with 90 kilograms of high explosives,” he added.

Fateh 360 missile can hit strategic targets at the speed of 3,704 kilometers per hour, and its velocity can be increased to some 5,000 km/h while communicating with satellites for quick navigation and fast strikes against enemy targets.
